Commissioners add Starbase to early‑voting roster and prepare for countywide runoffs

To broaden voter access for the countywide runoffs, he said the commissioners' court approved adding the Starbase location (Ad Astra Building, the former school) as an early‑voting site, increasing the number of early‑voting sites from 19 to 20 and maintaining hours of 8 a.m.–8 p.m.
Speakers clarified that the commissioners' court is responsible for designating early‑voting locations and hours, while the political parties are responsible for election‑day polling locations and certifying their candidates. The commission moved to acknowledge the report and the addition of Starbase; the motion carried unanimously.
Commissioners praised poll workers and county staff for managing the election despite technical challenges, and discussed continuing efforts to expand participation among the county’s roughly 240,000 registered voters.
