The Budget, Finance, Transportation, Plant Operations and IT Committee recommended that Fayette County Public Schools fund two $2,000 bonuses for teachers who were found to meet state eligibility after the state appeal deadline passed.
Administrators said the state offered $2,000 bonuses under legislation tied to a voucher-related program, but the statutory appeal deadline of July 31 had passed. The district opened an internal survey that received ten responses; a review committee concluded two employees met the eligibility criteria. The panel voted unanimously to recommend district-funded payments (including taxes) for those two individuals and forwarded the recommendation to the full board for approval.
Separately, Finance Director Ms. Elliott located and updated a 1995 longevity-pay policy for non-certified 12-month employees: payments begin at year five at $100 per year of service, capped at $1,500 annually. The committee agreed the updated procedure should be forwarded to the full board for approval and noted payments are issued in November and come from county funds.
Committee members also discussed a request from Dr. McPherson for reimbursement of eight additional days of relocation-related expenses and moving costs; the committee agreed to forward that request to the full board for consideration. None of these items were finalized at committee; all were recommended for full-board action.
