FAYETTE COUNTY, Tenn. — The Fayette County Public Schools Board met Oct. 2 and approved routine business, including a multi‑item consent agenda and the construction of a special‑education ramp at Fayette‑Ware High School, while tabling Policy 1.300 for further legal review.
The board voted unanimously to adopt the meeting agenda as amended after Kevin Powers requested an addition to an ELA Curriculum Committee item. The board then approved minutes from the Sept. 4 regular meeting and several committee meetings, and approved the consent agenda, which included Budget Amendments 141 and 142, a STAR Center contract, and overnight/out‑of‑state field trip requests.
On a committee motion, the board approved construction of a special‑education ramp at Fayette‑Ware High School (motion by Warner Speakman; second Merrel Miller). The Policy Committee reported that Policy 1.300 was tabled until its October meeting to allow staff to obtain a legal ruling from Tom Miner about removing public comment from committee meetings.
Board procedures continued without recorded roll‑call tallies in the minutes; motions are recorded as made, seconded and carried "all approve." The meeting adjourned at 6:42 p.m.
