Fair entertainment plans advance; Friday rodeo admission raised to $20, parking options discussed

The Archuleta County Fair Board spent substantial time on Jan. 14 planning entertainment and event logistics for the 2026 fair.
Entertainment committee leaders and Fair Coordinator Tonya Steadmon described several confirmed and prospective acts. President Emily Martinez reported contact with performer Tylor Brandon and partial sponsor commitments to help cover his appearance; Tonya said she has received inquiries from other bands and will circulate sound bites to the board. The board discussed booking a musician to perform during a Sunday pancake breakfast fundraiser.
Other attractions under discussion included a Shred BMX show (AJ), a Bull Riders group that will sell tickets and has arranged its own housing and a trick rider option (to be coordinated with Rodeo Contractors), a living reenactment quoted at approximately $2,800 from Scott Perez with the Cowboy Shootout group, and a potential Medieval Kombat group (Tonya will contact Waylon).
On rodeo planning, the board confirmed the Friday night rodeo will begin at 8:00 p.m. Tonya Steadmon reported the admission fee will be increased to $20.00 for General Admission; the board recorded that the $20 price will include parking, rodeo grounds admission and admission to the evening band/dance.
The board reviewed parking options after a Colorado Springs company proposed coordinating all parking for a $5,000 fee following a walk-through of the grounds. Tonya Steadmon will contact Pagosa schools’ booster clubs to explore volunteer-run parking in exchange for donations to the clubs. The board will decide how to proceed before the Fair.
The board also discussed house/ lodging coordination for entertainers and will pursue sponsorships to help defray costs.
