Commissioner Grant Moody pulled the item to raise it for discussion about the county’s broader criminal‑justice investments. County officials and health partners described diversion and deflection strategies designed to reduce jail populations and avoid additional jail construction costs. Commissioner Moody noted the county’s past ARPA investments—calling them substantial—and said the court needed a strategic plan across the service “pyramid” from community nonprofits to forensic beds.
Dr. LaBoree Greenfield (public health/criminal justice partner) and county staff confirmed existing grant applications and program investments are in place to support diversion and specialty court work. Commissioner Tommy Calvert called Crosspoint “one of the best tools for public safety” and cited program outcomes and capacity for treatment and veteran services.
The motion to approve the amendment was moved and seconded, and the court recorded the vote as unanimous.
