Policy committee advances amendments including clarification of Executive Committee composition
Summary
Fayette County Policy Committee amended Policy 1.301 to state that the Chair of the Board and the Director of Schools constitute the Executive Committee (Chair serves as committee chair) and forwarded Section 2 fiscal-policy changes and multiple policies for board reading and approval.
The Policy Committee reviewed multiple governance and fiscal-policy changes and advanced several items to the full board.
Committee Chair Kevin Powers discussed a minor revision to Policy 1.301 clarifying that "the Chair of the Board and the Director of Schools shall constitute the Executive Committee, with the Chair of the Board serving as its Chair." The amendment was moved, seconded, and carried; the policy will be forwarded to the full board for approval.
The committee also moved several policies for second and final reading (including 1.300; 1.407; 1.501; 1.502; 1.602; 1.700; 1.802; 1.803; 1.805; and 1.8011) and forwarded Section 2 (fiscal management) policies with proposed wording edits for first reading, including 2.100, 2.200, 2.201, 2.300, and a set of detailed housekeeping changes and suggested language improvements. Dr. McPherson will send proposed changes to the Tennessee School Boards Association contact for concurrence where noted.
Motions to move these policies to the full board passed unanimously in committee; final adoption will occur at the board level.
