Commissioners allocate Bexar County’s 304 appraisal-district votes to nominated candidate

BEXAR COUNTY, Dec. 9 — Bexar County Commissioners Court voted to allocate the county’s 304 votes to the candidate the court nominated earlier this year to serve on the Bexar County Appraisal District board of directors.

The judge said the candidate was nominated at the Oct. 14 meeting and has served multiple terms. "Doctor Barksdale has been present engaged as a member of the board of directors and I believe that our community will be well served with him fulfilling another term as their representative on the Bexar Appraisal District Board of Directors," the judge said during the discussion. The transcript uses two inconsistent spellings for the nominee (it refers to "Ralph Marksdale" in one place and "Ralph e Barksdale" in another); the document does not resolve which spelling is correct.

The judge explained that after local governments nominate their preferred candidates the appraisal district provides a slate and asks each body to allocate its votes to a preferred candidate; Bexar County’s allocation for this year was recorded as 304 votes.
