The Grand Traverse County Board of Commissioners recessed its annual meeting after county administration reported the apportionment report required for the meeting could not be completed. Administration said several townships have not yet provided required equalization documentation needed for the apportionment calculations, and county staff (Jim Baker) recommended recessing the annual meeting until that work is done.
Board administration proposed reconvening the annual meeting on November 5 as a target date; members agreed to recess the meeting rather than adjourn so the reconvened session could pick up the annual-business agenda when the apportionment report is ready. The county administrator said staff would coordinate with townships and Mr. Baker to confirm the reconvened date when the report is complete.
During the same portion of the agenda, staff and commissioners highlighted a regional Municipal Materials Management Plan (MMPC) public survey and asked commissioners to help publicize it among their jurisdictions. Commissioners also discussed ongoing conversations with neighboring counties about joint animal-control kennel options and noted staff would coordinate an inter-county ad hoc meeting to explore kenneling solutions and capacity issues.
The board recessed the annual meeting and will reconvene when the apportionment report is complete and posted, with a November 5 date identified as the current target.
