Bledsoe County school board approves budget amendments, financial report

The Bledsoe County Board of Education approved its monthly financial report for Oct. 31, 2025, and a package of budget amendments at a Dec. 1 meeting at Cecil B. Rigsby Elementary.
Finance Director Kara Walling presented the financial report and several proposed amendments, including Amendment #1 to Fund 177 (Education Capital Funds) to budget for trustee commissions; an Amendment to Fund 146 (Employee Daycare) to budget for medical insurance; and Amendment #9 to Fund 141 (General Purpose) to move a school psychologist’s funding from federal sources to the general fund in place of assessment personnel. The board approved the financial report and the amendment package. The motion to adopt the amendments passed with five members voting yes and two voting no (Timothy Churches and Steve Perry).
The vote followed brief discussion about staffing and program coverage. Board members did not request further detail on specific dollar amounts during the meeting. The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 5, 2026, at Pikeville Elementary.
The approvals carry the usual administrative authority for the superintendent and finance office to implement the budget adjustments and report back to the board as required.
