Bledsoe County Board votes raises, approves vendor contracts and athletic pay changes

The Bledsoe County Board of Education on June 2 voted to raise pay for employees previously approved for a 3% raise to 5.5% for the 2025–2026 fiscal year and approved several vendor contracts and changes to athletic supplements.
On agenda item 16a, board member Carolyn Oakes moved, with a second from Don Snow, to grant a 5.5% raise to all employees who had previously been approved for a 3% increase. The motion passed by unanimous recorded vote.
The board approved a Stellar contract to increase the rate for speech-language pathology and school psychologist services from $75 to $80. A separate Stellar Medicaid reimbursement contract was tabled until the June 23 special-called meeting.
The board accepted a yearbook bid from Jostens ($15,216 for 225 copies) over a lower Walsworth bid ($13,500) citing a local representative and satisfaction with the prior year’s product. The photography bid for middle/high school services was also approved.
At item 16b the board approved a sports-supplement equity proposal from Athletic Director Jason Reel. The proposal increased BCHS head softball and baseball supplements from 10% to 12%, raised assistant softball and baseball supplements from 5% to 7%, increased the high-school cross-country head coach supplement from 5% to 7%, and added a 3% assistant flag-football coach supplement.
The board approved tenure for Mrs. Emily Frady and other eligible teachers; board member Jacob Frady disclosed that Emily Frady is his wife before the vote. The minutes record the tenure motion passed unanimously.
The minutes record that the board will meet in a special-called session June 23, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Bledsoe County Middle School and that the next regular meeting is scheduled for July 7, 2025 at Mary V. Wheeler Elementary.
