Resident urges county to consider local limits on high-powered rifle use after late-night shooting incidents

During public comment at the March 9 meeting, resident Bridal Lynn told the court that people had been shooting late at night near neighborhoods, sometimes from about 100 yards away, and asked the county to consider local restrictions to improve safety.
"I would think that in the county, we would maybe adopt what the state has, which would be, like, a 10 acre minimum or something to be shooting high powered rifles," Bridal Lynn said. She described occasions when shooting continued after dark and said the activity had restricted what children and families could do on their own property.
The chair thanked Lynn for bringing the concern to the court but did not announce immediate action; commissioners did not vote on an ordinance or local regulation at the meeting. The issue was recorded as public comment and may be referred to county staff for follow-up or ordinance research.
