Gallatin County Commission approves $1.5 million in claims, OKs contract change and encroachment permit

The Gallatin County Commission on March 24 approved $1,503,062.42 in claims, authorized a contract change order for road improvements and approved an encroachment permit for Northwestern Energy.

A commissioner read the claims voucher and told the commission the county had received EFTs and warrants from the auditor totaling $1,503,062.42. "The commission received EFTs and warrants for consideration from the auditor totaling $1,503,062.42," the commissioner said. The voucher referenced the 03/19/2026 claims list and identified EFT numbers 1648 through 1659 and warrant numbers 81068760 through 81068968.

The commissioner also presented Item 2, a contract approval (2025470), and noted change order number 3 for Old Town Road improvements, which increased the contract amount by $1,000.20. The agenda materials included a Madison Road crossing surface installation agreement. Item 3 was an encroachment permit application (P26-eighty 1) for Northwestern Energy on Clarkston Road.

The commissioner moved to approve the consent agenda "as it was read into the record," and the Chair seconded the motion. The commission voted in favor without discussion: both members who spoke on the motion recorded "aye." The action approved the claims, the listed contract items and the Northwestern Energy encroachment permit.

The approvals were taken on the consent agenda; no further public comment or debate on these items was recorded.
