Fayette County commissioners met March 19 in Uniontown and unanimously approved a broad slate of routine county business, including contracts, vehicle leases, hiring ratifications and budget transfers.
The board approved an Adult Probation lease for a 2026 Ford Interceptor with prisoner-transport upfit (equipment cost $49,702 and paired lease options), multiple Behavioral Health contract modifications for 2025–26, awards for county tires, fuel and janitorial supplies (Bids 26-01, 26-02 and 26-03), and purchase-of-service agreements for Children & Youth Services. Commissioners also ratified hires across departments, updated the workers' compensation panel and opened a second Tax Claim Bureau sales fund. Each motion was made by Commissioner Harry Dutch Kaufman, seconded by Commissioner Vince Vicites, and carried with Commissioners Scott Dunn, Kaufman and Vicites voting yes.
The meeting packet included several financial and program details: attorney Brent Eric Peck was approved for dependency and agency representation at specified hourly rates; Justice Works Youth Care's VIP rate was reduced to $80/hour; Co-Star vehicle lease figures and payment schedules were recorded; and a HazMat training attendance authorization was capped at $10,000. Commissioners approved intra-budget transfers as listed in the agenda materials.
The meeting closed after a public-comment period in which residents raised separate concerns about a proposed MARL transmission line and county employees and union representatives requested further talks on wages and health benefits. The board adjourned at 11:18 a.m.
