Huron council opts into remnant-defendant opioid settlement funds

Mister Hamilton said this is one of the final collections from smaller defendants after the major companies reached earlier settlements. He did not provide a precise per-jurisdiction dollar amount, saying staff are still determining the city’s share after legal fees. “This will be accounted for in our usual opioid settlement fund,” he said, noting the usual restrictions on how those funds may be used.
Council approved the resolution by roll call. Staff said the proceeds will be placed in the city’s opioid settlement fund and handled according to the fund’s legal restrictions; council did not adopt new spending plans for the proceeds at the meeting.
