South Amherst seeks additional bids for near–$80,000 playground revitalization

Councilmember Jeanne Maschari and Fiscal Officer Michelle Henke said only one vendor had submitted pricing and recommended obtaining at least one additional estimate or placing the project out for public bid to ensure compliance and to provide documentation for an audit. They also noted that donated site-preparation labor (offered by Diggers) may count toward the total project value for bidding thresholds and should be documented when evaluating whether formal bidding is required.
Council agreed staff will seek multiple quotes, verify whether proposals include turnkey installation comparable to the initial quote and bring updated bids to the next meeting. The village will also explore contacting a local builder experienced with playground installations to obtain an additional estimate.
