The Village of South Amherst Council on March 9 voted to postpone consideration of a conformity of boundaries and parcel annexation until its April 13 meeting after a resident requested more time to resolve related issues in New Russia Township.
Kevin Machovina, 268 S Lake, asked council to table the annexation vote until concerns in New Russia Township are addressed. Fiscal Officer Michelle Henke explained that council approval is forwarded to the County Commissioners and then to the State, and that all materials must be submitted by September under the applicable procedural timeline.
Councilmember Anthony Savage moved to postpone the vote; Councilmember David Troike seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with Councilmembers Michele Jeffers, Robb Koscho, Mark Leshinski, Jeanne Maschari, Anthony Savage and David Troike recorded as voting yes.
The council did not take further action on the annexation at the March 9 meeting; the item is scheduled to return to the April 13 agenda for further consideration and any additional public comment.
