Commissioner Michael Rivera announced during the meeting that he will not seek reelection next year, saying the decision followed "much prayer, deep reflection, and many conversations with my family." Colleagues thanked Rivera for his service and wished him well. Chair Leinbach described the decision as a transparent and healthy example for county politics, and Commissioner Santoni said Rivera had made a difficult choice for family reasons and would be thanked for continued service through the next year.
Rivera said he will remain "fully engaged and focused" on county business until his term ends (he cited Jan. 4, 2028 in the meeting) and noted that he made his announcement publicly earlier the same morning via social media and wanted to make it part of the meeting record.
