The South Amherst village council voted March 23 to purchase a playground system for Pioneer Place and to close multiple sections of Evergreen Cemetery for sale.
Councilmember Jeanne Maschari moved to approve the Pioneer Place Playground System from Pro Playgrounds for $75,999, a motion seconded by Councilmember Anthony Savage and approved unanimously. The purchase includes demolition of the existing playground and installation with wood-fiber mulch.
Maschari also described the village's review of cemetery records and why software was deemed impractical now: many records are old, handwritten and in some cases illegible, she said, adding that paid manual data entry would be required before any software rollout. "Current cemetery records are very old, handwritten, and in some cases illegible, making software implementation impractical at this time," Maschari said. Following discussion, Maschari moved to close sections A through H of Evergreen Cemetery for sale; Savage seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved the agenda as amended and approved the minutes as presented; motions on both items were adopted by unanimous vote. Council later voted to enter executive session at 8:38 p.m. to discuss imminent court action and personnel matters under ORC 121.22(G)(3) and ORC 121.22(G)(1); they returned to regular session at 9:33 p.m. and adjourned at 9:34 p.m.
No additional binding actions on zoning or sewer participation were taken by the village at this meeting.
