Committee forms ad hoc panel to review VIVI grant application process

The Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions Committee voted on July 23 to close the file on Communication 934 and to create an ad hoc committee to evaluate the VIVI grants application and review process. The ad hoc will develop a scoring rubric for the 2025 application cycle and make recommendations on progress reporting and improvements.
Committee members volunteered to serve: Councilmembers Liloy, Kimball, Kimbo and Leroy, with the committee chair naming themselves as chair of the ad hoc. The chair said the ad hoc will meet over the next month and is expected to return with recommendations in early September. A motion to postpone Communication 934 to the call of the chair carried with eight ayes and one member excused.
The ad hoc’s stated tasks include reviewing the 2024–25 application process, developing a scoring rubric for 2025, and recommending improvements to reporting requirements. The committee noted existing institutional memory from last year’s ad hoc and said staff will coordinate future meeting times.
