Student board member highlights student honors, exchange visit and senior events at Lockport Twp HSD 205 meeting

A student board member for Lockport Twp HSD 205 recapped highlights from the April 27, 2026 Board of Education meeting, naming several student achievements and previewing end-of-year events.

The speaker said the board recognized the girls wrestling team for finishing second at the state meet and named wrestler Claudia Hini for earning her third individual first-place finish and being selected as the district's 2026 outstanding wrestler of the year. The speaker also noted students who competed in the IDEA competition and named Gabby Giordano as the first-place winner in a national public-service announcement contest. The board additionally honored the district's 2026 Illinois State Scholars.

The student board member reported that they and another student, identified as Ryan, presented on upcoming end-of-year activities such as prom and the Top 10% dinner. The speaker summarized parts of the Yamate Japanese foreign-exchange students' visit and said the trip included several meaningful experiences shared with the student body.

The speaker said members of the superintendent's advisory council proposed improvements to the district's student splash page and that those suggestions were shared with the board. The speaker also relayed that Mrs. Adolph announced an awards and scholarship night scheduled for May 13 for eligible seniors.

The speaker noted this was their final individual report for the school year, reiterated that new student board members will be seated in August, and stated that the board has received 29 applications for student board positions and will narrow the applicant pool before selections are finalized.
