"None of this happened because of one person — it happened because of a dedicated team of employees, elected officials, volunteers, and citizens who care deeply about this county," he said, adding, "I’ve been proud to work alongside each of you in building a stronger, safer, and more connected Perquimans County. Thank you, and God bless Perquimans County." Chairman Wallace E. Nelson presented Heath with a plaque and offered praise for his leadership.
The Board took no formal personnel action at the meeting to name an interim manager or begin a replacement process; the minutes record only the recognition and remarks of gratitude from commissioners.
