A majority of commissioners approved a naming-rights agreement that would allow the nonprofit developer to enter donor agreements and pursue roughly $16,000,000 in private funds for construction and facility-related costs. The naming-rights spaces identified include gallery and exhibit areas, meeting rooms, classrooms, event halls, outdoor gathering spaces and a heritage walking trail.
The county communications recap did not state which commissioners supported or opposed the naming-rights agreement, nor did it list specific donors, a timetable for fundraising or contract terms for the naming-rights sale.
Next steps: the nonprofit will pursue donor agreements under the naming-rights framework; the county said it will continue to report progress on funding and development.
