The Vernon County Finance Committee on May 18 voted to extend the Sidie Ridge bathrooms project timeline to June 2024 and authorized a $9,214.84 purchase for a CentralSquare backup server.
Bobbi Johnson, Finance Manager, presented monthly updates on Ho-Chunk-funded projects and asked that the committee consider process improvements for fund requests. Martin Kennedy of the Land and Water Conservation Department updated the committee on work at Sidie Ridge. "We need additional time to complete expected work and close out the project," Kennedy said. Rod Ofte moved to extend the Sidie Ridge bathrooms timeline to June 2024; Kay Stanek seconded and the motion passed 4-0-0 with one member absent.
Captain Michael Davig of the Sheriff’s Office and IT Director Conner Simon described the county’s need for a backup server to support the CentralSquare system. The committee approved using the remaining balance in a 2021 allocation line, "Projects To Be Determined," totaling $9,214.84 for the server. The motion, made by Kay Stanek and seconded by Kelli Mitchell, passed 4-0-0 with one absent.
Johnson said a letter of notice to Ho-Chunk requestors will be sent soon and asked staff to prepare an application form to capture budgetary impacts and timelines for future requests. She also reported that Ho-Chunk funding could potentially end in 2035 pending review and renewal of the third amended gaming compact with the State of Wisconsin.
