Mercer County approves road design task orders, utility permit and opens highway bids

Mercer County commissioners on April 1 approved two Moore Engineering task orders to advance road design and planning and approved a utility permit, then opened the county’s annual highway bids for review.
Task Order #5, presented by Moore Engineer Tom Weigel, covers design and plan preparation along 45th Avenue and 7th Street near Pick City; Commissioner Jamee Folk moved to approve Task Order #5 and the motion passed unanimously. Task Order #6 covers design and plan preparation along County Road 21 between Meadow Drive and ND 200; Commissioner Rick Bauman moved approval and the motion passed unanimously.
Assistant Highway Superintendent Dennis Olheiser presented West River Utility Permit #1776 (26), which the commission approved unanimously. At 10:00 a.m. Highway Department Administrative Assistant Rachel Grimm opened the annual bids; the Highway Superintendent Elroy Opp will review submitted bids and return recommendations to the commission for award at a future meeting. No bid awards were made at the April 1 meeting.
These actions authorize engineering design work and routine utility permitting; construction or contract awards will require later approval by the commission.
