At the start of the meeting the board presented personnel recognitions to police officers and firefighters and heard departmental updates.
Police: A police representative described the ACE (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement) awards given to officers who focus on felony arrests, fugitive apprehension, weapons and drug enforcement. Officers Lindley, Shackman and Hewitt were recognized for earning ACE awards for 2025. The department also announced a Detective Wilkin as the officer-of-the-year recipient for investigative work, including serving as case agent on multiple ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) assignments.
Police Chief Matt Lumbergh told the board the department had received verbal confirmation of accreditation through the chiefs association, noting the effort of staff and the magnitude of the project. "We have been accredited," Chief Lumbergh said, and said a formal ceremony will follow when the association provides an official representative.
Fire: The fire chief reported the department responded to 73 calls in January and noted successful recruit training and certifications; two graduates (Michael Claro and Gabrielle Seidman) were present and acknowledged. The board applauded volunteers and career staff for service and safety.
What this means: The awards highlight local public-safety staffing and performance; the accreditation signals an external review of policies and procedures has concluded favorably, and the departments continue to manage staffing and training needs.
