Council approves July 4 event, property conveyance, pool design contract and tree‑planting bid

At its May 4 meeting the Fort Myers Beach Town Council approved multiple administrative items and resolutions in a single business block.
Special event and fireworks: Council approved a permit for the town’s Fourth of July parade (Estero Boulevard, 9:30 a.m.–noon) and a fireworks display that evening, subject to concurrence by the Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and other required agencies; staff said outreach for parade participation is underway.
Property conveyance: Council approved Resolution 26-095, authorizing a quitclaim deed conveying a small, platted sliver of town property to adjoining owners John S. Vidalan and Carol T. Vidalan. Staff and the town attorney explained the use of a quitclaim deed to avoid the expense of litigation over a narrow survey discrepancy.
Pool design contract: Council approved Resolution 26-076 to award a professional-services agreement to Opulent Outlines LLC for engineering and architectural services on the Bay Oaks Community Pool rehabilitation project. The agreement is not to exceed $135,000 and staff said funding will come from an approved Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocation; design deliverables are expected in roughly four to six months.
Canopy restoration bid: Council awarded ITB-26-10-EN for the Estero Island Canopy Restoration Project to Tidewater Landscape of Florida LLC. The project, funded through a FDACS grant, will plant about 74 trees in public rights-of-way and park areas (species and exact locations to be confirmed with grantor requirements). Council authorized the manager to finalize the contract subject to legal review and budget adjustments.
Votes and next steps: All items were approved by unanimous vote. Staff will coordinate required interagency approvals for the Fourth of July event, prepare the quitclaim deed conveyance documents, initiate the pool design contract with Opulent Outlines, and confirm tree species and planting locations with the FDACS grant administrator.
