Commission approves consent agenda, fireworks permit and planning commission appointments

The Saline County Board of Commissioners approved the consent agenda and several individual items at its March 17 meeting, including tax roll adjustments, accounts payable, payroll, minutes from prior meetings, a cereal malt beverage license for Salina Speedway, disposition of property, and the appointment of Daniel Quebec, Phil Schneider and David Olsen to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
On action item one, staff and emergency management discussed a resident's request to set off a fireworks display on Burma Road in Fire District 3; staff said they had coordinated with the resident and the fire district and saw no issues. A motion to approve RFA 2026-36 was made and passed 4-0.
The consent and permit approvals were procedural votes and carried unanimously. Commissioners thanked staff for assembling materials and noted the appointments will have terms beginning April 1, 2026, if confirmed at the time of appointment.
