Commissioner Jordan Delong moved to approve the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS) employer contribution rate recommendation from Committee A; Commissioner Terry Hickey seconded the motion, which passed on a voice vote. The commission then approved three budget transfers recommended by Committee A: $1,500 from Local Purpose Tax Fund 120 to trustee commission expenses; $2,000 from Solid Waste Fund 116 to trustee commission expenses; and $5,000 moved within General Fund 101 for liability insurance. Each transfer was approved by roll call with Commissioners Michael Chandler, Jordan Delong, Terry Hickey, Terry Hodges, Michael Woodlee and Chairman Cale Crain voting yes.
County Mayor David Sullivan nominated Jeremiah Manus to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Van Buren County Planning Commission (term July 1, 2026–June 30, 2030). Commissioner Michael Woodlee moved to approve the nomination; Commissioner Terry Hickey seconded and the appointment was confirmed by voice vote.
EMS Director Twanna Bricker told commissioners the county received a grant of $30,303.03 to purchase health equipment. Bricker presented a Savvik quote for two chest-compression devices totaling $30,508.40, which included a trade-in allowance for Zoll Autopulse equipment. Commissioner Terry Hickey moved to accept the quote and the accompanying budget amendment; Commissioner Michael Woodlee seconded and the measure passed on roll call.
Commissioners also approved routine items including the March 23, 2026 meeting minutes, a correction to a prior budget amendment (Fund 112), the County Board of Equalization membership for the 2026 tax year, and the issuance of a Tennessee notary commission for Michelle Leigh Goodwin. Motions were made and seconded as recorded in the minutes and approved by voice vote or roll call as noted.
