City manager announces Arbor Day tree giveaway and staff updates

City Manager Brian Daniels reported several operational updates to the Meriden City Council.
Daniels said Meriden was chosen for an Energy-Saving Trees program sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation and Eversource; the program provides 150 trees for residents on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents should request trees at get.arborday.org/eversource and pick them up on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from noon to 7 p.m. at the Meriden Transfer Station.
He also noted April 12 through April 18 is National Public Safety Telecommunications Week and recognized the work of the city’s dispatchers as the first point of contact during emergencies.
Finally, Daniels introduced Crystal Blake, who started April 1 as the new constituent caseworker; he provided a telephone contact and an email address for Blake and said she will follow up on complaints raised during the meeting.
Councilors thanked staff for the updates; no formal action was required.
