Director's report: Chick-fil-A heads to council; general plan EIR to be posted soon

During the director's report at the March 17 meeting, staff said the Chick-fil-A project is moving forward to the city council for consideration and that council discussion of proposed mixed-use zoning continues.
"Chick fil A is moving forward to council, at the next meeting," staff said. The director also told commissioners the environmental impact report for the general plan had not yet been posted for public review but should be posted in the coming weeks, which will start the public comment period and push the general plan and zoning adoption timeline out.
Staff said they plan to bring smaller, topic-focused portions of the zoning code to commissioners rather than presenting the entire code at once and that outreach will expand, including direct notifications to parcel owners affected by proposed zoning changes and the "Coffee with a Planner" series to solicit public input.
Commissioners were asked to watch recent council discussions about zoning and to expect additional notices when items are scheduled for review.
