Committee advances recording-fee modernization bill to support electronic recording statewide

Assemblymember Hadwick presented AB 22 24, a fee-stabilization and modernization bill for county recorder services that would align the base recording fee with actual costs, eliminate outdated add-on fees, and require counties to provide electronic recording services. Dean Logan (Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk and past president of the County Recorders Association of California) testified the bill would help counties implement electronic recording, preserve service levels, and relieve pressure on county general funds that currently subsidize the recording function.
