Atascosa County authorizes participation in new state-led opioid settlement

Atascosa County Commissioners Court voted on March 23 to authorize participation in an additional national opioid settlement coordinated through the Texas Attorney General's office that includes remnant defendants.
County Attorney Molly Solis explained the paperwork required to include the county in the settlement and said any settlement amounts would be distributed according to population and the county's measured impact from the opioid crisis. Solis recommended approval of a resolution and participation forms, and the court authorized the county judge to complete and execute the required documents.
The motion carried in open session; no settlement dollar amounts were specified during the meeting record and any distribution would be determined by the state-led allocation process.
