Committee moves forward on FY26 year-end purchases, prepayment of special-education tuitions and Munis ERP work
Summary
Director Spagna asked the committee to use FY26 one-time savings to address deferred capital needs, prepay collaborative special-education tuition and advance the district's share of a Munis ERP implementation; the committee voted to move forward with the purchase orders and contracts while noting the funds cannot support recurring personnel costs.

Director Spagna presented the FY26 year-end spending package and said roughly half the proposed requests relate to capital needs including facilities and technology replacements. He described the approach as a one-time use of savings to stabilize next year's financial position and to address deferred maintenance across buildings.
Spagna told the committee the request includes prepayment of FY27 special-education collaborative tuition consistent with prior practice when funds are available, funding for classroom and building infrastructure, Chromebook carts and device replacement, and a district share of an ERP (Munis) implementation. "All the proposed purchases are supported by the projected FY26 savings, which are primarily from salaries, unemployment, retirement incentives, health services, transportation, and copier leasing," he said, stressing the savings are one-time and cannot be used for recurring staffing increases.
During discussion members asked about the town appropriation for implementation and costs. Spagna referenced a quote for implementation currently being finalized and said the district's portion is being coordinated with town procurement; committee members requested clearer line-item reporting and noted some quoted figures are still being solidified. After questions and clarifications the committee voted to move forward with the end-of-year purchases and asked administration to return with purchase orders and contract documents for committee review and approval.
The committee emphasized that the transfers and purchase orders will be brought forward for review and that routine budget adjustments will be presented for transparency.
