Reading the proclamation, Mayor Bergen said the 2026 Lennox Oriole powerlifting team competed against 255 of the state’s strongest lifters, won multiple individual titles and took first place in both the girls and boys overall competitions. "Now, therefore, be it resolved that I, Danny Bergen, mayor of Lennox, South Dakota, proclaim 03/23/2026, Lennox Oriole Powerlifting Day," he read.
Coaches and student athletes came forward for congratulations and photographs after the proclamation. The mayor encouraged residents to congratulate the team for its season.
