House receives committee referrals, hears several bill introductions and adjourns to May 5
Summary
The House received committee reports recommending three bills be referred to appropriations, heard introductions of four Senate bills including one on electric vehicle battery stewardship, and agreed to adjourn until Tuesday, May 5 at 9 a.m.
The House convened for routine floor business and received multiple committee reports and bill introductions before adjourning.
The presiding officer opened the session and asked Mister Schiebel to read committee reports. "Committee on Agriculture, Water, and Natural Resources," Mister Schiebel said, "After consideration, the merits of committee recommends the following: Senate Bill 165 be referred favorably to the Committee on Appropriations." He also read that the Committee on Finance recommended House Bill 1425 be referred favorably to the Committee on Appropriations and that the Committee on the State of Military and Veterans Affairs recommended Senate Bill 154 be referred favorably to the Committee on Appropriations.
Mister Schiebel introduced several Senate bills. He said that Senate Bill 3, sponsored by Senators Wallace and Cutter and Representatives Brown and Stewart R., would expand the scope of the Battery Stewardship Act to cover end-of-life management of electric vehicle batteries; the bill was assigned to the Committee on Finance. He also introduced Senate Bill 175 (Snyder, Catlin; Reps. Morrow, Richardson) concerning adjustment of an employer's experience modification factor in workers' compensation (assigned to Business Affairs and Labor); Senate Bill 177 (Ball, Benavides; Reps. Gilchrist, Mabry) concerning a property owner's ability to petition a court for limited access to an adjoining property to make repairs (assigned to Judiciary); and Senate Bill 182 (Snyder, Simpson; Reps. Caldwell, Pasco) concerning an updated clean energy plan from a municipally owned utility (assigned to Transportation, Housing and Local Government). Transcript text had a typographical error rendered as "Bridal 182"; the correct reading is "Bill 182."
The House also recorded printing reports and the signing of bills, resolutions and memorials for the journal, and noted messages from the Senate, the Reviser's office and the Governor would be printed in the journal.
A motion to adjourn was made and the presiding officer closed the session. "Madam speaker, I move that the House stand in adjournments until Tuesday, May 5 at 9AM," the motion stated; the presiding officer then announced, "The House is adjourned until tomorrow, Tuesday, May 5 at 9AM."
