Fox Board of Education approves 3% raise for support staff, multiple personnel hires and district policies

The board's consent agenda, approved on a motion by Clerk Stacie Fletcher and seconded by Member Carolyn McConnell, included the minutes of the July 24, 2025 meeting; agreements with Southern Oklahoma Technology Center to offer OHLAP credit and count certain SOTC programs as high-school credits; division order contracts with B & W Operating LLC, Coffeyville Resources, Black Mesa Energy LLC and Continental Resources; the CDAP for 2025-26; local equivalency adjustments under guidance from the Oklahoma State Board of Education; the Fox Elementary and district site plans; the districtwide school plan; and the creation of activity fund account No. 931 for the Class of 2031. The motion carried with three yes votes (Fletcher, McConnell, Otto Young) and two absences (President Joey Rodriguez, Member Twanna Owens).
On financial matters, the board voted to file the activity fund report and the district financial reports for audit and approved purchase orders, payroll P.O.s and payments across the general, building and municipal tax levy funds. The minutes record that no action was taken on agenda items 26 through 29.
Personnel actions included approval of a 3% cost-of-living increase for all support personnel (motion by Fletcher, seconded by McConnell), approval of extra-duty pay of $1,750 for Ariah Williams as assistant volleyball coach for the 2025-26 school year, and approval of extra-duty pay of $1,384.96 for Jessica Riley for a planning period from Aug. 10 through Oct. 13, 2025. The board approved Whitney Watkins as an adjunct teacher for Family & Consumer Science and rescinded a paraprofessional offer to Harlee Taylor after Taylor was unable to accept the position.
The board also approved employment of paraprofessionals Kelsey Yonker and Monica White and employed Forrest Goodwin as a bus driver for the 2025-26 school year.
Administratively, the board approved the Fox School District Emergency Plan for 2025-26 and adopted a slate of OSSBA-recommended policies addressing student conduct, enrollment procedures, student transfers for military families, nondiscrimination, maternity leave, administering medication to students, standards of performance for teachers, reporting suspected child abuse, support personnel suspension/termination procedures, records investigation, seizure-safe schools and teacher termination procedures.
All recorded motions that carried were moved and seconded by board members Stacie Fletcher and Carolyn McConnell; the voting record cited in the minutes shows three affirmative votes and two absences for each carried item. Contracts referenced in the minutes were signed before the meeting adjourned. The board adjourned at 7:26 p.m.
