Belgrade senior advisory board upholds parking ticket after members debate cul-de-sac claim

The Belgrade Senior Citizen Advisory Board voted Oct. 13 to uphold a parking citation after members debated whether the vehicle was parked in a cul-de-sac or on a rounded corner where two roads meet.

Pam Knowles, sitting in for Bonnie Campbell, said the board had reviewed the case and opened the floor for comment. Carol Scott, a board member, urged the board not to overturn the ticket, saying the location “is not a true cul de sac” and that reversing the citation would create “the bad precedent to set.”

Another board member who inspected the location agreed, calling the parking “illegal” and recommending the citation stand. After discussion, the acting chair called for a vote; recorded “aye” responses resulted in the board concluding “the parking ticket stands as it's been, dispensed to the person who parked illegally,” and a member volunteered to prepare a letter to the ticket recipient.
