Montour County commissioners approve routine financial reports, grant support and payments

The Montour County Commissioners unanimously approved a series of routine measures at their March 24, 2026 meeting, including prior meeting minutes and the Treasurer’s Report, and authorized several local grants and payments.
Commissioner Trevor S. Finn moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting; Commissioner Rebecca A. Dressler seconded, and the motion passed on a called vote with both commissioners voting in favor. The Treasurer’s Report was similarly approved on a motion by Finn and a second from Dressler.
In a separate vote, the board approved a $5,000 Visitor’s Bureau Tourism Grant application from the Danville Business Alliance to support the organization’s 40th annual Spring Fling, scheduled for May 2 and featuring the America 250 mobile unit. Commissioner Dressler moved the grant approval; Commissioner Finn seconded. Lura Good, listed in the attendance roster as “DBA,” provided details about the event during the discussion.
The commissioners also voted to draft a letter of support for the Danville Area School District’s application for a DCNR (Department of Conservation and Natural Resources) Park Rehabilitation and Development Grant to develop athletic fields intended for use by students and the public. Dressler moved the action and Finn seconded.
Commissioner Finn moved to approve payments across county funds—General Account $670,096.95; Children & Youth $90,506.28; Liquid Fuels $64.75; Human and Community Service $2,845.65; Other Funds $43,334.53—and Dressler seconded. The board voted to authorize the disbursements.
The meeting also included a presentation of account balances and restricted funds (the minutes list a range of account balances including a reported total checking balance of $1,768,740.32 and individual funds such as the Uniform 911 Surcharge at $1,150,427.66 and an Opioid Settlement Fund at $376,499.22). Commissioner Finn called attention to correspondence from the Thomas Beaver Free Library asking the county to publicize library services, including free public computer and Wi‑Fi access, low-cost printing, and adult literacy programs.
