Ashland County commissioners approve routine contracts, transfers and grants; accept two resignations

The board voted to accept Change Order No. 1 — a $240,250 deduction related to alternates for an underground water detention system on the new administration building project — and approved a contract with Asphalt Materials Incorporated for liquid asphalt needed during the 2026 construction season. The commissioners authorized multiple interfund transfers to cover workers' compensation and current expenses across several county funds.
The board accepted the resignation of Nancy Eric, solid waste education specialist, effective June 30, 2026; speakers praised her roughly 25 years of service to the county’s recycling and education programs. The board also accepted the resignation of Cody Reising, information technology specialist, effective April 13, 2026.
Record-keeping and procurement items included authorization to add a fourth e-recording vendor for the county recorder’s office and approval of a $7,980.55 contract with US Imaging Incorporated to scan survey record books to digitize records required by state law. Commissioners also concurred with appropriations covering the recorder’s scanning project and other anticipated expenses.
On transportation and airport business, the board approved three grant agreements with the Ohio Department of Transportation, Office of Aviation: two phases of rehabilitation for the Airport Terminal Access Road and a separate grant for land acquisition and purchase of an existing hangar. Commissioners discussed that the access road construction is expected to start June 1 and that grant funding is expected to involve ODOT and FAA sources; the airport authority is the grant recipient.
All discussed items were moved, seconded and approved by roll call during the meeting. The board closed the meeting and scheduled the next regular session for April 23 at 9 a.m.
