Columbiana County commissioners reappoint Nicholas Amato to Port Authority, approve engineer MOU and authorize 2026 bid advertisements

The Columbiana County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Nov. 26, 2025 to re-appoint Nicholas Amato to the Columbiana County Port Authority Board for a four-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2026 and ending Dec. 31, 2029.
Commissioner Ginter moved the re-appointment; Commissioner Paparodis seconded and the motion carried with all three commissioners voting aye.
The board also approved a Memorandum of Agreement between the Columbiana County Engineer and the Columbiana County Highway and Engineering Department Employees' Association covering Jan. 1, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2028. Commissioner Paparodis moved approval and Commissioner Ginter seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Separately, the commissioners authorized the County Engineer to advertise two sets of 2026 bids. The first authorization covers gasoline, diesel fuel and kerosene for the Columbiana County Highway Department; the advertisement was scheduled to run in the Morning Journal on Dec. 3 and 10, 2025 with bids to be opened Dec. 17, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. The second authorization covers slag, gravel, crushed limestone, asphalt and ice-control materials for maintenance and construction; the minutes record the motion as moved and seconded (the second is recorded in the typed minutes as Mr. Paparodis). All related motions were recorded as passing unanimously.
Commissioner Halleck also noted the Courthouse will be closed Dec. 26, 2025. The board adjourned after the listed business.
