Fairfield council raises Zoning Hearing Application fee to $1,750

Councilors voted April 1 to raise Fairfield’s Zoning Hearing Application fee to $1,750. The motion, made by Councilor Camille Cline and seconded by Councilor Pat Pileggi, carried by unanimous acclamation.
Solicitor Battersby told councilors he had reviewed fees charged by other local townships and boroughs and found they ranged “anywhere from $1,500 to $2,000,” and contrasted that with Fairfield’s existing $500 fee. He recommended the increase to bring the Borough’s fee closer to neighboring communities and to cover processing and legal review costs. Council instructed the Borough to update the fee schedule and post it on the Borough website.
The fee change was recorded formally in the minutes; the Council did not attach a phased implementation or exemptions in the motion. No public comment was offered at the meeting.
The decision follows routine review by the Solicitor and will be reflected in the Borough’s published fee schedule; councilors did not specify an effective date during the meeting.
