During public comment at the Nov. 5 meeting, resident Diana Babe asked the Board of County Commissioners to restore the original name of a road in Franklin Township — changing Meister Road back to Briceland. She said the issue had previously been raised in 2013 and felt the matter had not been resolved.
Bill Helschel of the County Engineer’s office advised that Ohio Revised Code 5541.04 governs road‑name changes and that a petition signed by a majority of property owners would be required to proceed. The board did not make a final decision and tabled the request for further discussion and review.
The board directed the petitioner to pursue the petition process under ORC 5541.04; no timetable was set during the meeting.
