Commissioners adjust Senior Services Levy contracts, presenter thanks voters and notes temporary building outage

At the Nov. 5 meeting the Board of County Commissioners approved amendments to contracts funded by the Senior Services Levy. The motion, made by Commissioner Ginter and seconded by Commissioner Paparodis, passed unanimously.
The board increased Clean Choice Maids' contract ceiling by $5,000 (from $30,000 to $35,000) and decreased Companion Care's ceiling by $5,000 (from $115,000 to $110,000). Ms. Ketterman, who presented the item under the Senior Services Levy section administered by the Columbiana County Department of Job and Family Services (CCDJFS), described Companion Care’s scope as homemaker duties (for example vacuuming and dusting), chore work and home health aide support, with a case manager assessing individual homes to determine needed services.
Ms. Ketterman also said she was thankful that the levy passed in the election the day before. When Commissioner Halleck asked about heating, Ms. Ketterman reported the office had lost electricity to about half the building after air handlers blew but that repairs were expected that day.
The board recorded the amendments as effective for the 2025 contract period; no additional conditions or amendments were noted.
