Fayette County approves bridge design, prisoner-housing agreement with Ross County and several equipment/repair contracts

The Fayette County Board of Commissioners authorized a set of contracts, grants and service agreements at its Jan. 12 meeting.
The board authorized Fayette County Engineer Jason Little to enter a professional services agreement with Fishbeck Engineers for the Snowhill Road Bridge Rehabilitation Project (FAY-CR09-2.70) at a fee not to exceed $27,400.
The commissioners approved a memorandum of agreement, recommended by Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, to house Ross County prisoners in the Fayette County Adult Detention Center at a rate of $82.50 per prisoner per day. The agreement places responsibility for ambulance/life-squad fees on Ross County and charges Fayette County $50 per hour for medical escort to and from the Adena Fayette Medical Center and for hospital care incidents; the term runs Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2026, and may be modified or terminated by mutual agreement.
Other contract actions included acceptance of a quote from Granite Telecommunications for phone equipment and service at the Fayette County Airport (equipment one-time estimate $236.62; monthly service $48.47) and acceptance of a $4,554.50 quote from Silco Fire & Security to repair a backflow line at the county jail. The board also approved a 60‑month Pitney Bowes lease for postage equipment for the Sheriff's Office with a monthly payment of $159.17 (billed quarterly).
The board accepted a CEBCO (County Employee Benefits Consortium of Ohio) wellness grant for 2026 with Administration Funds of $4,000 and Program Funds of $6,120 to support county wellness activities. The board also authorized registration fee payment (county share limited to registration) for Kate Wells, OSU Extension Community & Economic Development Educator, to attend Ohio Certified Economic Developer courses (approximate county registration cost $3,149) and approved Department of Job & Family Services staff travel reimbursements not to exceed $1,596 for scheduled visits and district meetings.
The minutes record that the board entered an afternoon executive session with Prosecuting Attorney Jess Weade, Engineer Jason Little and Project Manager Crystal Corbin to discuss a water agreement with the City of Wilmington; that session began at 1:48 p.m. and ended at 2:25 p.m. The board returned to open session and continued with contract approvals and routine business.
