Fayette County OKs child‑support filing contract, juvenile placement agreement and design work for landfill; approves land‑use plan contribution

Fayette County commissioners on Jan. 27 approved several intergovernmental and vendor contracts and authorized a contribution toward a countywide land‑use plan.
On the recommendation of Faye Williamson, Director of the Child Support Enforcement Agency, the board approved an IV‑D service contract with the Fayette County Common Pleas Clerk of Courts. The agreement sets the cost and delivery of purchased services at $389.07 per CSEA‑initiated filing and carries a total contract value of $83,650.03 for Jan. 1–Dec. 31, 2026. The minutes show the funding split as $28,441.01 in non‑federal matching funds (34%) and $55,209.02 in federal matching funds (66%). The motion carried on a roll call of Garland, aye; Anderson, aye; Fleak, absent.
Also approved, following Judge Mary E. King’s recommendation, was an agreement with the Lawrence County Juvenile Center to provide community residential services for approved juvenile offenders at a per‑diem rate of $250 per bed for 2026. The agreement requires compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) and the facility’s admission criteria; the contract allows renegotiation and provides that the rate would increase to $400 if the facility becomes IV‑E eligible.
The board authorized Jason Little, Fayette County Engineer, to enter a professional services agreement with Burgess & Niple, Inc. to prepare construction drawings and bidding/permitting specifications for Phase B of the Fayette County Construction & Demolition Debris (C&DD) Landfill expansion. The estimated fee for the engineering services is $18,900.
Per a recommendation from Kate Wells, Economic Development Director, the board adopted a resolution to contribute up to $20,000 to support the creation of the Fayette County Comprehensive Land Use Plan in partnership with other entities.
The meeting also approved an emergency travel request for Faye Williamson and Juli Thacker of the Department of Job & Family Services to attend an MSY meeting in Greenfield on Jan. 30, 2026, not to exceed $54. The board adjourned after these items. All motions above carried with Garland and Anderson voting aye; Fleak was absent and recorded as such in the minutes.
