Commissioners allocate opioid-settlement and LATCF funds to local programs and rescind courthouse-lawn plan

Fayette County commissioners on Dec. 8 approved multiple resolutions reallocating local grant and settlement funds to community programs.
The board approved a $5,000 request from the Community Action Commission to continue a tracking-device program serving persons with dementia and autism. The funds are intended to purchase wrist/ankle radio transmitters, receivers and associated equipment used in the program that began in 2006.
Commissioners also authorized the use of opioid-settlement funds from the county’s allocation: $50,000 to support the Community Action Commission’s community-based Prevention Program and $25,000 to cover critical infrastructure, renovation and administrative needs for Pathways to Recovery’s Health and Wellness Program. All motions carried on unanimous roll call.
Separately, the board rescinded a Dec. 30, 2024 resolution that had authorized Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Funding (LATCF) for courthouse-lawn updates and instead authorized $15,686 of LATCF to help the Commission on Aging address inflationary pressures in its 2025 budget. The rescission and reauthorization were both recorded as approved by the three commissioners.
