Preston updated the Auglaize County Board of Commissioners on program and facilities matters during the March 10 meeting, reporting on a recent public hearing for the General Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, upcoming demolition at the county-owned Acres site, and administrative deadlines including ARPA closeout.
Preston said the 1st public hearing for General CDBG, held Monday, March 9, was well attended and was followed by a Fair Housing session. She asked staff to continue follow-up work tied to that process.
On facility matters, Preston reported that the contractor handling demolition at the Acres will permit limited public access to salvaged bricks in a designated area outside the fenced demolition zone on a first-come, first-served basis. She said the contractor will accommodate the request and that demolition is expected to begin within the next two weeks; the Board indicated willingness to approve drone practice at the site before demolition provided certain conditions are met. Preston also reported that the historical video and slides in the Administration Building hallway have been repaired.
Preston told the Board that the ARPA closeout is due this week and that closeout work is completed. She said staff are still processing tasks tied to a recent public records request. Preston also noted a request for a subordination agreement related to a CHIP project in St. Marys; the Board directed staff to complete the paperwork for consideration. She reviewed the projects to be included in capital budget requests that are due this week.
What happens next: Staff will obtain further details on the Solid Waste concrete project recommendation and complete the paperwork needed for the CHIP subordination request; demolition planning will proceed with conditions on public access and drone use as discussed.
