Committee approves GC change order for rock removal, Oak Park modulars and surplus auction

Slaughter said the work will be billed against existing contract allowances and does not increase the overall contract or construction budget. The committee approved the recommendation by voice vote; the record shows a voice approval without a roll-call tally.
Oak Park modular classrooms: The committee approved purchasing and installing four modular classrooms at Oak Park to add capacity while the district completes a facilities assessment and eventual addition planning. Slaughter said the low bid was $1,267,575, that installation and utility connections drive much of the cost, and that the units can be relocated or sold when a permanent addition is built. The motion to advance the item passed by voice vote.
Surplus auction authorization: Slaughter asked to place unused, non-repairable district equipment on Munisibid for sale. He reported recent auction proceeds (about $1,900 for a truck and about $1,000 for a camper). The committee approved placing the items on Munisibid by voice vote.
Public comment on rock-excavation allowances: Jason Lanier (Lansdale) asked whether the rock excavation charges on Bid Pack 2 were separate from earlier contract add-ons that the commenter recalled being approved as an insurance-like allowance. Slaughter explained that Bid Pack 1 used a fixed allowance for rock (which largely covered costs), and that for Bid Pack 2 the fixed-cost option to reclassify rock would have required a figure in excess of $400,000, which the district did not accept for the GC; he added the electrician carries a contract clause for rock removal on their utility path.
All three items were forwarded with committee approval; final action will occur at the full-board meeting as part of the consent or action agenda.
