Boyle County school board interviews three construction firms for elementary renovation projects

Jennifer Newby, chairperson of the Boyle County Board of Education, called a special meeting to order Dec. 16, 2025, at Boyle County Middle School to hear presentations from three construction management firms being considered for renovation work at Junction City Elementary School and Perryville Elementary School.
The board heard separate presentations from Codell Construction Company, D.W. Wilburn, Inc., and TraceCreek Construction in the school's sixth-grade hall classrooms. Each firm outlined its proposed approach to the two elementary-school renovations and answered board questions about staffing and responsibilities.
Bradley Beatty, architect with Clotfelter Samokar, told the board he will email all three firms seeking clarified breakdowns of their fee structures and will specify the district's expectation that a superintendent be assigned at both renovation sites. The board discussed differences among the firms' proposals but took no final contract action at the session.
On a motion by board member Ruth Ann Elliott, seconded by board member Stephen Tamme, the board voted unanimously, of those present, to adjourn the special meeting. No selection or vote on a construction manager was recorded at the meeting.
Next steps: the architect will collect and circulate the requested fee clarifications to the board; any subsequent selection or contract approval will be scheduled for a future meeting.
