Fayette County sets Dec. 15 hearing to consider vacating Milledgeville-Jeffersonville Road for 'Future Bluegrass Boulevard'

Commissioner Donald L. Fleak moved to set the dates and times; Commissioner James D. Garland seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously in favor.
The segment under consideration runs from the east right-of-way of Fent Road to the west right-of-way of State Route 729. The resolution notes that Milledgeville-Jeffersonville Road currently has a 30-foot right-of-way. The board ordered that abutting property owners be notified and that legal advertisements announcing the view and hearing appear in the local newspaper on Nov. 12 and Nov. 19, 2025.
County officials did not adopt any vacation at the Nov. 3 meeting; the action scheduled on Dec. 15 is the formal opportunity for property owners and other interested parties to present comments and evidence before the board. The view will take place on the described stretch of road; the public hearing will be held in the commissioners' office at 133 S. Main Street, Suite 401.
Next steps: the board will receive public comment at the Dec. 15 hearing and may decide whether to proceed with a vacation ordinance or take other action after that hearing.
